This mandala represents my spiritual journey from birth. When working on it, I had the sense that there had been a lot of darkness in my life. After I completed it, stepped back and really looked at it, I was astonished that there was so much light relative to the darkness. And more importantly, the darkness was absolutely vital to add depth and interest. Without it the painting (and my life) would have been bland and shallow.
